We do love our cat.

Another catch up post... about our fun summer.

Raja, our cute tuxedo cat, gave us a scare the end of June. She started throwing up her food and within 48 hours had thrown up 15 times. We just kept her in the bathroom because I got really tired following her around and cleaning it up a lot.

I ended up taking her to the vet. The vet was kind, but seemed to be on this "it's a block, she needs xrays" kick. Apparently the day before someone came in with their cat who had been throwing up, but they knew she was eating foam from a box. So that cat had a barium Xray test and ended up getting emergency surgery. So they paid at least $2800 for the cat to have surgery.

When the vet was telling me the different things that could be wrong with Raja, it was a mental battle "No way are we paying even $100's on her! But we do love her so much, she is a part of the family. She's like a sister to Scarlett, and was our baby before Scarlett came into our lives". Silly. I know.

The vet said Raja either ate something and had a block in her stomach or intestines. OR she had built up an intolerance for her food over a period of time and needs to have hypoallergenic food from now on. We decided to try the different food and wait it out. We could have done $500 worth of Xrays to see if she had a block for peace of mind. But we figured even if they did find that she has a block, we wouldn't be forking out the $1,000's for her to have surgery. So we waited, watched her closely... and we are extremely grateful she gradually got better and is now her normal self.

Not going to lie, I was bawling on the way home from the vet thinking that she may not make it or be okay. We do love our Raja.

a 5K

At the beginning of June we did our first 5K! As cool as that sounds... we pretty much walked the whole way, I did jog the last bit though. Scarlett even went with us, in the red wagon. We kept up a pretty good pace, it was a good experience as a family.

Scarlett's pretty dress

Because I have been super lazy at blogging... This is just a random post with super cute pictures we took of Scarlett in a pretty dress she got as a gift from a special person. She's 15 months in these photos, June.
Here she is throwing a tantrum. :)

PG Strawberry Days Rodeo!

We went to the Strawberry Day’s Rodeo in Pleasant Grove in June. I have gone the last 3 years in a row now. Scarlett enjoyed running around finding cows and seeing the crowd.

Reese and cousin Mary & Ryan joined us too! I love the picture of Reese’s cheese face in the slide show.

It’s almost impossible for Scarlett to fall asleep anywhere other than her car seat and crib. But! We got lucky that night and she fell asleep pretty easily.

She did wake up for fireworks though. We really enjoy going to rodeo’s, just as long no person, or animal gets hurt.

Random Summer ness

We have been having a lot of fun this summer, which I guess is my reason for not blogging at all!?! Or it' s just because I haven't made it a priority. In June a combo of aunts, uncles, and cousins ran Ragnar! So there were cousins from out of town visiting, and it was a very fun weekend! I haven't compiled all my photos from that weekend, they're on two different cameras, my ipod, and my phone. But here are a few to share.

Gage is such a sweetie to Scarlett. I hope they'll grow up to be good buddies, though they are 11 months apart.

Cousin Preston has been in Michigan all summer so we don't have any recent fun pictures of those two together. But they're coming back to Utah in a week or so. So we have had my friend watch Scarlett for me while I work 2 days a week. One day Scarlett had dirtied her clothes (food, drinks, playing, etc) so when I picked her up she had her bikini on! Ha. Ha. I had forgotten to put an extra set of clothes in the diaper bag for that day. But it was really perfect... By the time we got home it was raining, and she just went out in the rain in that little bikini.

PG Children's Parade

We joined cousins Olivia and Gage for the Pleasant Grove Strawberry Day's Children's Parade again this year (June). We had a great set up with the red wagon! Gage and Scarlett were pretty good to just sit in it the couple of blocks we walked.

The cups dragging behind them were a hit! I'm glad Seth could leave work early and join us for the fun event.

Seth's favorite children's book

Scarlett loves books. She has her own shelf on the living room book shelf of just her books, just at her reach. She'll often bring us a book for us to read to her, or she will just carry them around the apartment.

Seth's favorite children's book is "The little mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear". Quite the title. He says it's the first book he memorized, they must have read it a lot growing up!

I love these pictures of Seth reading his favorite book to Scarlett.
